Last year (2013) France's Minister of Women's Rights, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem finally repealed a 200 year old ban on women wearing trousers. According to the law, women needed to have the permission of local police if they wanted to "dress like a man" and wear trousers.
These Parisiennes at the Place de la Concorde in 1933 weren't about to let a silly law prevent them from wearing pants.
