Winnipeg man builds 1000-seat rink completely from snow

This story is so Canadian! When life hands you a heap of snow and wintry weather make a rink!
Winnipegger Bill Martens has built a 40-metre (or 130-foot) rink in his Winnipeg backyard, completely from snow. It can accommodate 1000 spectators. The five rows of bleachers surrounding the ice surface and boards were built snow-block by snow-block, and hardened by Winnipeg's infamous cold.
He's expecting in excess of 100 skaters this weekend.
