Wadi Al-Salaam (Valley of Peace), located in Najaf, Iraq, is reputed to be the largest cemetery in the world. Approximately half a million corpses are interred there each year and it covers 1485.5 acres(6 km²). About 5 million Muslims have been laid to rest there. It is also the world's oldest cemetery with burials having been performed there continuously for 1400 years.
Many prophets are buried there and people of the Shiite faith believe that the souls of all faithful men and women shall be moved there, no matter where their bodies have been buried.
