Amazing Ideas

Some of these ideas are more amazing than others but I could see myself using most of these gadgets.

Some , like the Swiss Army Knife with USB, are available for purchase. Others, like the Almighty Board and the Levitating Computer Mouse, are still  concepts. Go to Dump A Day to see 24 more.

Thanks Bruce!

  1. Go ahead, use the "Almighty Board" as a cutting board, so long as you're happy to have blunt knives.
Glass is too hard for that purpose.
A USB stick in a Swiss Army Knife? another confused and rather silly idea, and as for a levitating mouse? That degree of levitation would require dangerously powerful magnets, if they flip and trap your hand, you might lose a couple of fingers.
If only designers could display a little more engineering sense and make things which answer a need, instead of just getting lost in the imaginary world of Hogwarts.

  2. If you want to see bad design check out the Cuisinart tea maker. An electric kettle and teapot is a good idea. It heats at different temperatures depending on what type of tea is being used. It also keeps the tea warm for half an hour. However the steeping basket doesn't separate from the shaft and it is difficult to load and impossible to empty after use.

  3. Well, back in the day, I had a phillips teamaker/alarm-clock/bedside light.

All was well, if you were careful, and it would start the process in time so the alarm/radio would sound moments after your tea was ready. For perfection, I'd have liked a built-in toater and egg-poacher too, but...

Oh. but if you got things a little wrong, well, you'd wake to the sound of a stream of boiling water cascading off the bedside table and into the carpet.
I'll betyour cuisinart is better behaved than that damned incontinent teamaker.
