Mrs. James Ward Thorne of Chicago constructed 99 miniature rooms between 1932 and 1940
using elements of European interiors from the late 13th century to the 1930s and American furnishings from the 17th century to the 1930s. They were constructed on a scale of one inch to one foot.
This exquisite collection is housed at The Art Institute of Chicago, the Phoenix Art Museum and the Knoxville Museum of Art.
