Circa 1956 Kitchen For Sale

I know all you retro geeks will love this story.

In 2010 Nathan Chandler bought a house that was built in 1956 but never occupied, The manuals were still taped to the appliances which were never used. He is selling: side-by-side wall refrigerator, wall oven, cooktop, double bowl washboard sink, and dishwasher. If you are interested please email him at web@nathanchandler.com

I love them and they're probably immune to the built-in obsolescence that afflicts today's short-lived appliances. But replacement parts might be hard to come by and they are pink.

  1. I have always loved those little corner shelves attached to the cupboards by the window...perfect for little plants.
The chairs remind me of ones we had in our kitchen in the '70's.
As for the pink appliances...I thought Harvest Gold was bad!

  2. My mother used to have African violets on those little shelves. I'd forgotten about that!
A friend bought a lovely architect designed 50s split level. The kitchen had a lot of turquoise touches and the bathroom was pink - all original. I liked the way it looked but she couldn't wait to tear it all out. Chacun a son gout...
