Play Me, I'm Yours

Although their link to a sporting event is not clear, 41 fully functional pianos will pop up in parks and public spaces across greater Toronto next week in celebration of the upcoming Pan Am Games.

I'm told some come from as far away as Beaverton. My word!

  1. That’s quite a challenge, since they can’t just move them like a fiberglass animal. They’re heavy, unwieldy, and have to be tuned after every move. Actually they should be tuned with changes in the weather, but I doubt they’ll go that far. I wonder if starving piano players will seize the opportunity to try to get “discovered”.

  2. I worked at a National Historic site that had an antique square grand piano and humidity control was a real issue. I had to take humidity reading 3 times a day.
