The National Ballet of Canada Tutu Project

The National Ballet of Canada is celebrating 60 years of partnership by inviting people from across the country to create a collection of 60 wonderful and very original tutus.

This tutu features an industrial skyline on the tutu’s plate, which is juxtaposed with a vibrant garden on the underside:

Volunteers made 60 fish out of lightly padded gold, bronze and copper fabric which were attached to the ‘bronzed’ tutu in a depiction of the salmon ‘swimming’ on the wall of the Port Theatre:

My favourite compares the Hudson’s Bay Company point blanket and The National Ballet of Canada as unmistakable icons of Canadian culture:
