Noelle Hamlyn's Pocket Book Purses

Noelle Hamlyn is a Mississauga, Ontario artist who creates handbags from vintage books. Aren't they absolutely beautiful?

Each Pocket Book began as a vintage book. The covers are sprayed with water resistant varnish, and the insides of the books are removed and replaced with fabric linings. These linings are created individually using a pattern drawn and fabric selected specifically for that book. Like the books, many of the linings have stories as the fabric used is often repurposed from vintage ties and shirts, recycled upholstery fabric, and fine found silks.
They are available to purchase at Noelle's Etsy Shop.

A big thank you to regular reader Warren for turning me on to Noelle's work. He bought a gift basket of books at a fundraiser auction and was surprised to find one of these lovely handbags among them.
