India's City of Widows
Vrindavan, India, a holy city of 56,690 in the northern Mathura District of Uttar Pradesh where thousands of homeless widows have gathered. Maitri, an NGO located in New Delhi launched Project Jeevan in 2010. This project provides widows in Vrindavan with a daily mid-day meal in addition to other services.
