Jean-Paul Sartre met with Ernesto “Che” Guevara when he visited Cuba in the 1960s. Che impressed him greatly and he later said he thought Che to be “not only an intellectual but also the most complete human being of our age” and the “era’s most perfect man.”
Hello Nag on the Lake:
ReplyDeleteThanks for this. One of Che's personal sadnesses was that he had five children in Cuba whom he basically gave up in order to to foment revolution elsewhere in the world. This despite the fact that he truly loved his kids. So he may not have succeeded in being the most complete human being that Sartre felt he had met.

Che gave up raising his kids, to go kill other people's kids.
