Your prescription for 2011 is…

Have you woken up in 2011 vowing to cut down on your drinking, eat less and exercise more? All good basic principles, but research published in the past year has suggested that living a healthier lifestyle isn't quite so straightforward – and we needn't be quite so abstemious, either. There are plenty of less obvious, even counterintuitive, ways we can extend our lives and improve our health this year.
I wasn't going to read this article because I thought it would make me feel guilty but it's not as bad as I thought.
The good news: my 22.48 BMI is well within the healthy range (despite what it looks like), moderate exercise is better than too much and my dietary staples: green leafy veggies, onions and tomatoes are the healthiest.
The bad news: being a creature of darkness, I probably don't expose myself to enough light; I don't eat kiwi or banana skins or pineapple cores; I do not play an instrument (although I used to strum away on a guitar in the last century).
The worst news: One glass of wine (175ml) contains 2 units of alcohol. I always thought one glass equalled one unit. Yikes!

  1. I'm going to pretend I didn't even see the part about the wine ;-)
