Sagrada Familia

Work in progress
It is one of the world's most famous unfinished masterpieces, and critics are increasingly concerned that the completed version of Antoni Gaudí's Sagrada Familia will bear little resemblance to his original plan. Catch up on the history of Barcelona's architectural wonder.

I'd wanted to see this structure since I first saw pictures of it when I was a child. I finally got to see it when I visited Barcelona in April. I was surprised that it remains so unfinished. Gaudi, the architect, died in 1926 and a long series of architects have been trying to bring his vision to reality ever since. Latest estimates put the end of the works at 20 years from now.
