What's under the Siberian iris?

What do I have in my garden besides a tangle of weeds? Why a nest of baby bunnies, of course! There has been a lot of rabbit activity in the yard this year and it's evidently resulted in a passel of kits. We noticed Max running around with bunny hair on this nose and acting like a goof. Mummy Bunny leaves hair and grass at the entrance to the nest in an effort to camouflage it. Luckily Mr. Big Black Nose That Gets Into Everything didn't harm the kits. We've set up an elaborate blockade of cafe chairs and plastic edging that will, we hope, keep Max out and let Mummy Bunny in. I can't tell how many are in the nest. Their eyes are open and hopefully they'll be ready to move out soon. No photos cause I don't want to frighten them.
