Some Things I SawYesterday

I spied a seeing eye dog that was a dead ringer for my flat coated retriever, Max. I wanted a photo to show Max that some dogs do more than lick their genitals and bark at anything that moves but they were trotting along at quite a clip and I didn't think it would be right to ask a blind guy to stop for a photo.

A takedown of two felons also took place in the blink of an eye 2 feet away from us. Two cops, at least I think they were cops although they looked pretty rough, slapped the cuffs on two other guys and whisked them away before I could figure out what was happening.

Mr. Nag was eager to visit St. Sulpice church again. He loves the fountain (it turned out to be under construction and covered up) and the chapel with the three Delacroix paintings. Me, not so much - I find it gloomy. He was taking his time so I went outside and checked out a couple of interesting-looking hotels close by. When I went back to see what was taking him so long he was sitting with his eyes closed and a rapturous expression on his face. "Are you sleeping or have you converted?", I asked. " Did you know that this is one of the largest organs in the world?", he replied. Normally the Nag likes anothing better than a large organ but this one was playing villainous sounding, moustache-twisting Wagner at ear drum shattering volume. As I was fleeing the church I saw three beggars from the front steps getting off work. They picked up their earthly possessions from behind some ancient statues and adjourned outside for a smoke before moving on to some corner to hunker down for the night. The doleful expressions they maintained during working hours disappeared as they regaled each other with tales of their begging prowess. Just like those of us with more conventional jobs they were entirely different people when off duty.
