Maybe I'll go see this movie. When I was about 10 years old I feared that I'd still be sucking my thumb when I got married. Then I read in Silver Screen or some equally reputable publication that Brigitte Bardot still sucked her thumb which lessened my anxiety, but only a bit. When relatives tried to stop me my mother always defended my oral proclivity, saying, "It's the only pleasure she's got." Thinking back, it probably was. Later on I stopped sucking my thumb and moved on. As a teenager I likely got too intoxicated to direct thumb to mouth and thus a disturbing habit was broken - and another begun.
