‘Rooftop Rain’

This cooling system in Shanxi, China uses high-pressure smart nozzles to atomize ultra-fine water mist that purportedly drops  temperatures on the roof by 5–8°C and lowers surrounding ground-level courtyards by 3--6°C.

Canopy Formation

Floating through the sky like a bird looks like fun.  If I weren’t acrophobic I’d give it a try.

Theodore Roosevelt Library

We’ve been hearing a lot about the opening of the magnificent Obama Presidential Library but not so much about the Theodore Roosevelt Library which is scheduled to open on July 4. Designed by global architectural firm Snøhetta, it is nestled into the Badands of Medora, North Dakota and reflects the conservation legacy of Roosevelt.

A one-mile boardwalk weaves through the museum grounds. The site is home to the Native Plant Project that restores and regenerates the immediate grasslands and to 400,000 native seedlings collected by local volunteers and grown by North Dakota State University.

The accessible rooftop affords commanding views of the National Park, including historical settings in the Little Missouri River valley, and the location of Roosevelt’s Elkhorn Ranch far in the distance.
