I am so fond of Doreen Fletcher’s paintings of London’s dilapidated East End buildings that she calls 'the almost gone'. She captures them on canvas before they get “swept away”. I received an invitation in my inbox today to her new exhibition and would love to go but transatlantic travel presents challenges these days so I’ll have to pass. I thought I’d share it here in case any of you are able to attend.
The painting below is a favourite of mine. Pelicci’s is a bustling cafe in London’s Bethnal Green area. One time Mr. Nag forgot his backpack there and the manager chased after us for a few blocks to return it to him.
