Japan was once famed for being incredibly expensive but it has become more affordable for travellers in recent years. Abroad in Japan says it is possible to stay in Japan for two weeks for $1000US (without airfare). I’ve always wanted to go to Japan but my budget travel days are behind me and I’d probably opt for a comfort level trip.
