Chelsea Hotel Doors Auction
On April 12th Guernsey’s conducted a sale of 52 original doors from New York City’s legendary Chelsea Hotel, home of some of the most iconic individuals in history - Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Andy Warhol, Jim Morrison, Jackson Pollock, Jerry Garcia and more. A homeless man had rescued the doors from demolition and then spent years researching links between these doors and the iconic people who once had lived behind them. He pledged half of his proceeds to City Harvest, the nonprofit organization dedicated to feeding those in need.
