Artist Klaus Littmann has framed a tree within its own arena and floated it in the Venice lagoon for the city’s 60th Art Biennale. The installation, which seats 50, was inspired by tree rings. The Bald Cypress was chosen because it thrives in both fresh and saltwater, withstands wind, can absorb large amounts of floodwater, and promises to endure peak temperatures in urban areas. Littmann aims to challenge our perception and sharpen our view of the future of the human-nature relationship.
