Vehicle of the day

It might be a bit of a fiddle manoeuvring this Volkswagen all terrain camper into a parking spot at the mall but otherwise it’s perfect.

There's already a Herkimer Battle Jitney, but that would be a great name for this thing too. Or The Great And Powerful Turtle*, one of the dozens of superheroes in the Wild Cards books, mainly because of his shy personality, but also because of his vehicle, a turtle-shell-like flying saucer (powered by his telekinesis) welded together of surplus ship armor plating by his only friend, a junkyard proprietor. The VW above looks like a whole turtle with its head tucked in halfway. In fact, the cab unit should thrust out forward on rails for the driver to see around a corner before pulling out into traffic, or to be able to overhang a deck or loading dock and step directly down without having to climb down the front tire.

*When the Turtle performs his first-ever superhero act, saving people from a burning building by lowering them to the ground on the back of his saucer shell, firemen shout to him. "Who are you?" Hiding inside, he says back through the P.A. system, "Call me Turtle..." and then adds before zooming away into the sky, "the Great And Powerful!" That's the origin of his title.
