I have watched all 92 episodes of Mad Men three times. This scene makes me want to watch them all again.
The brilliant Kodak Carousel pitch scene.

"Mad Men" is my absolute show of shows-- the writing, the casting, cinematography, costuming are all of the highest echelon. It also highlights some of the greatest acting in television OR film. The depth and richness of the characters and storylines is unparalleled, IMO. "The Suitcase" (Season 4 Ep 7) is the single best hour of TV I have ever seen. May be time to watch it all again.
ReplyDeleteIMO The Sopranos gives Mad Men a run for the money. Nothing else comes close.

ReplyDeleteThere was a 30-second Campbell's soup ad I saw once that did that to me. There's no music, no sound but air. A woman stands at a kitchen stove. A little girl sits at the table. The woman pours soup from a pan into a bowl and puts it on the table. The child says quietly, "My mother (!) used to cook this kind of soup for me." The woman waits for more, it doesn't come, so she sits down and says very gently, "My mother used to make this kind of soup for me, too. Why don't you tell me a little about your mother, and then I'll tell you about mine." Cut to can of Campbell's soup. Thirty seconds. I have been looking for that ad for it seems like fifty years.
ReplyDeleteI think I might have told you about that one before.
I think you may be thinking of the Campbell ‘s Soup 1998 Foster Child Ad (YouTube). It’s a good one - Google it .
