Been vacant for 200 years means no electricity to start and probably minimal plumbing. I’m sure she and her husband did a lot of labor but impossible to do it alone, even in 50 years. They must have hired/contracted help. A very costly project.

    1. My old house has been difficult enough to maintain and it is no castle.

  2. If a person really likes history, antiques and manor homes, there is a superb series called Salvage Hunters that has been popular for 15+ years in the UK. It started off as somewhat low-class reality show shadowing an architectural salvage dealer named Drew Pritchard. In the first couple seasons he only visits the musty barns of hoarders. But he can spot an important, authentic piece hiding in a shed that no one else sees. Within a few seasons the show became very popular and Drew was invited to castles and manor houses all over Britian. Then all around Europe. Search on Youtube - a truly fascinating show.
