Sudan, the last male northern white rhinoceros, died five years ago. Only two females remain on earth and their deaths will mark the end of an ancient evolutionary chain. A new film by photographer and filmmaker Ami Vitale documents the heartbreaking crisis facing the northern white rhinos and the keepers who sacrifice so much to protect them.
Logically it makes no difference in my life if there's any Northern White Rhinos or any Rhinos at all. So why does this bother me so much, why does this make me so angry and sad? I guess if they'd been out competed or couldn't adapt that would be acceptable, but to be exterminated to make their horn in fake medicine is infuriating.

I am ashamed of my species.
DeleteRight there with you. We are determined to burn this whole place up, negating all the beauty that surrounds us and every gorgeous thing we ourselves have ever created. For what? For effing money. What a terrible, terrible waste.
