Old footage of China street scenes enhanced by AI

The colour in this AI-enhanced footage of Nanjing in 1901 verges on psychedelic but adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the original black and white that is somehow pleasing.

    I wonder if the men walking 4 abreast with rifles are soldiers or police?
    The color may not be accurate but it sure helps define edges that are fuzzy in the original.
