Watching Picnic is a Labour Day tradition at our house. William Holden and Kim Novak dance to the tune of "Moonglow" in this iconic scene from the 1955 film.
Oddly enough, I was watching a documentary about William Holden today where they talked about this scene. He was nervous about dancing and so had to get pretty drunk before they could film, and they had to do it in as few takes as possible before he got too drunk to function. I think you can tell at the start of the scene that he's inebriated. But even so, it's still a very beautiful and erotic scene, there's real chemistry between him and Kim Novak.
