Stairs are the biggest impediment for wheelchair users. JerryRigEverything tests this self-balancing, stair-climbing wheelchair that brings technology into the world of accessible equipment. It's pretty amazing.
That chair is incredible but still way behind in technology, probably because they are working with small numbers. That means limited resources for R&D, plus changes are a nightmare for servicing techs, and any failure can be life threatening. (think salivating lawyers). With all the sensors I wonder if two or more chairs together would confuse each other?
I'm sure that there are challenges but I'm confident that there will be technological advancements that will address some of them. My daughter-in-law is a dynamic young wheelchair user about the same age as Cambry and I can see this chair affording her additional freedom of movement.
