I came across a post today on
Ian Visits about a London house that was bought in 1981 by Kenyan-born writer Khadambi Asalache. For 20 years, he decorated it internally with Moorish-influenced fretwork which he cut by hand from discarded pine doors and wooden boxes. The house was gifted to the National Trust when Asalache died in 2006 and tours are now offered twice a week. I found a remarkable video for those who can't visit the house in person.
