Trong Nghia Architects used 42,000 pieces of bamboo to create the complex, sculptural form of this entrance building for a Vietnamese resort. Architect Vo Trong Nghia, described bamboo as the "green steel of the 21st century".
Some years ago I saw a hotel being constructed in the Gili Islands in Indonesia and was amazed that bamboo was being used for such a large structure. (my photo below)
Was the bamboo part of the construction or holding up forms to pour a concrete floor?
ReplyDeleteCan't remember.
DeleteFrom the picture I would guess the latter, temporary support to pour a concrete floor.
ReplyDeleteThey use it a lot for scaffolding and supporting tarps against the weather, even around modern skyscrapers.
