Bergen, North Holland in the 1910s


Bergen is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. These photos, taken by photographer A.J. Bonda, show the town and its surroundings in the 1910s. I think it looks idyllic.

  1. The first picture is of the old church, called de Ruinekerk (cos it's a ruin), there's a stone in the church marking the grave of my direct ancestor Dirk Besteman, who was laid to rest there somewhere around 1530
