The Parading Shrimp of Northeastern Thailand

During the rainy season, between late August and early October, tourists crowd the riverbanks with flashlights to watch the shrimp walk in Thailand’s Ubon Ratchathani province. Members of the Macrobrachium species parade from sundown to sunup, travelling up to 65 feet upstream. Some individual shrimp stay out of the water for 10 minutes or more.
