A Roman Ghost City Buried For A Thousand Years

Timgad, on the edge of the Sahara desert, is one of the best surviving examples of Roman town planning anywhere in the historical Empire. It was a Roman-Berber city founded by the Emperor Trajan around AD 100 in the Aurès Mountains of Algeria and was designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982.
