Embroidered Garment, ca. 1949

Alice Eugenia Ligon hand-embroidered this small dress while she was a patient at a Missouri hospital in 1949. She crocheted the hem and sleeves and covered every inch of fabric with pictures and stories. It now resides in the Smithsonian Museum.
