Walkabout is a 1971 British-Australian film directed by Nicolas Roeg and is a great favourite of mine. It tells the story of two white Australian children who are left to fend for themselves in the Australian outback and who meet an Aboriginal boy who helps them to survive.
I was surprised to discover recently that Jenny Agutter, who plays the teenage girl in the film, stars in
Call The Midwife, a British TV series that I am very fond of.

Australian movies are some of my favorites. They often have quirky humour and a very strong visual style.

ReplyDeleteJust the other day I was reading about Nicolas Roeg, who had recently passed away, and his work directing Walkabout. Fascinating man...and a fascinating film.
That was a very strange film
