The Tragedy Behind Frank Lloyd Wright's Mayan Revival Homes


In the early 1920s architect Frank Lloyd Wright built a handful of mysterious, pre-Colombian-inspired houses in California (you might recognise them from the dystopian film Blade Runner). Their eerie, tomb-like style was in fact the byproduct of Wright’s greatest personal catastrophe: the ax murder of his lover, a woman named Martha, and six other people at the architect’s desert hideaway…
