World's oldest known message in a bottle found near Perth, Australia

In 1886 a bottle was launched from the German barque "Paula" as part of an experiment to better understand currents and uncover more efficient shipping routes. On January 21, 2018 the bottle was found washed up on a remote beach in Western Australia. It is thought to be the world's oldest known message in a bottle,
