Italian photo-artist Francesca Catastini explores vivisection as an aesthetic performance. Her book,
The Modern Spirit is Vivisective, presents a cornucopia of materials, her found photographs of old anatomy labs and blind school students mingle with frontispieces of Renaissance anatomy manuals to which she adds her own large format images of some famous Italian anatomical theatres.
