Genoese architect Renzo Picasso visited New York City in 1911 and was inspired to produce visionary drawings depicting striking skyscrapers, elevators, public transports, and urban plans that look like they came from the pages of vintage sci-fi comic books. He created plans for multi-layered highways, urban aero-garages, the motovol, a winged motorcycle, and the auto-scafopattino, a motorised canoe fitted with artillery.
When Picasso died in 1975 most of his work remained unpublished. The Renzo Picasso Archive is working to gather and restore Picasso’s works from various locations around the world.
