For 70 years The Doomsday Clock has been a symbol which represents the likelihood of a human-caused global catastrophe. In 2017 the election of Donald Trump has made the world a more dangerous place due to the augmented risk of nuclear war and uncontrolled climate change. The Science and Security Board of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists has decided to move the minute hand of the Doomsday Clock 30 seconds closer to catastrophe. It is now two minutes and 30 seconds to midnight.
