Love Lock Proceeds Will Go To Refugees

A year and a half ago, Paris workers stripped the Pont des Arts of 1 million padlocks that had been attached by lovers over the years because the weight of the 65 tonnes of love locks was threatening to damage the beautiful old bridge.
Bruno Julliard, the environment chief at Paris City Hall, has announced that ten tonnes worth of the locks will be sold off to anyone hoping to take a piece of modern Paris history with them. The proceeds of the sale (estimated at €100,000) will go to refugee groups.

I took the above photo a few years ago when I was in Paris.
