Simon Johan's “Until the Kingdom Comes” Challenges Expectations

MASQUERADE: The zebras are in a zoo; the foliage is from Florida and Bali

In his series Until the Kingdom Comes Simen Johan uses a variety of photographic techniques and effects to create near life sized images of animals. "Giraffes lose their heads in the fog, louche primates debauch with domestic animals, and tapestry-like camouflage both conceals and dazzles. Climate, habitat, and species are fragmented and remixed."

BLENDING IN: Indonesian peacocks in a Spanish pepper tree.
The leaves of the tree mimic the birds’ feathers.

INTERTWINED: The flamingos live in Virginia
