70 Hester Street

“Don’t make a movie about moving out. Make it about how great it was to live here.”

70 Hester Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan has been a synagogue, a Prohibition-era distillery, and a raincoat factory.  It was also Casimir Nozkowski's childhood home. Before his parents moved out in 2012, Nozkowski made a short documentary about the past life of the old building.
