The New Mexico Wilderness was once a coastal swamp of an inland sea and was home to many large trees, reptiles, dinosaurs and primitive mammals. Located in northwestern New Mexico the little known areas of Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah and Bisti/De-Na-Zin are full of colorful hoodoos, pinnacles, spires, cap rocks, canyons, washes and other bizarre formations laid out in a remote maze.
John Fowler's photographs are magnificent.
