An Oregon man presented a clay jug to Antiques Roadshow’s expert appraisers who valued it at $50,000. They dated it to the late 19th century and said it came from the “Middle Atlantic states headed southward”. I suspect that the man's elation turned to disappointment when the jug turned out to be the creation of fellow Oregonian Betsy Soule, sculpted in her high school ceramics class in the 1970s.
