Space Zinnia

This colourful zinnia was grown on the International Space Station to see how different plants grow in microgravity. It is the first flower to bloom in space but excess moisture, drowned roots and mold  put a damper on the project until NASA astronaut Scott Kelly took over the gardening and saved two of the plants.

The project had already produced lettuce and next they plan to grow tomatoes.
