Remember my posts about hitchBot, the hitchhiking robot who travelled across Canada relying on the goodwill of strangers (here, here, here and here)? It was a social experiment to learn if strangers will help him finish a journey from Halifax to Victoria. People were glad to help the little robot and got him across Canada in no time flat. He also travelled in Europe with similar success.
However things turned sour when he started a journey across the US. He started in Boston two weeks ago, headed for San Francisco, but unfortunately, he never made it out of the Northeast. The researchers who built hitchBOT announced today that they need to stop the experiment because hitchBOT was vandalized in Philadelphia and was ruined beyond repair.
