'Holy Grail' Guitar Found Under Bed

When the children of a 92 year old Iowa man were helping him clean out his home for a move they found an extremely rare 1937 Gibson J35 guitar under his bed. Only 1,000 of these instruments were made, and even fewer had the distinct cherry edge-burst finish. The man had purchased it in 1941 shortly before shipping off to the Pacific during Second World War but never played it after he returned. During the depression-era it would have sold for $35 but is now worth $25,000US.

Mark Stutman of Folkway Guitars in Waterloo, Ontario who specializes in refurbishing and selling rare vintage guitars  has bought the rare Gibson.
