54 Hours
This short animation by Bruce Alcock & Paton Francis is a vivid account of the 1914 tragedy in which 132 men were stranded on the ice for 54 hours during a severe snowstorm off the coast of Newfoundland. 78 men froze to death on the pack ice.
Today, a memorial for the 1914 Sealing Disasters will be unveiled inElliston, Newfoundland and Labrador.
