Kate and Anna McGarrigle by Caroline Leaf

I have always been a fan of the music of Quebec sisters Kate and Anna McGarrigle. They were never a mainstream act but I always took the time to see them if they were playing nearby beginning with a show at the New Penelope in Montreal back in the 1960s. Unfortunately Kate passed away in 2010.
Filmmaker Caroline Leaf captures the sisters on and off stage. Highlights include excerpts from the sisters’ Carnegie Hall performance and a look at their songwriting and recording processes.

And a glimpse of Martha and Rufus. Complainte Pour Ste Catherine is an intriguing song (with beautiful harmonies).
